First, describe what is actually happening

Note whether playback pauses, the picture freezes while sound continues, the app closes, or the television loses its network connection. Then try another channel and another app on the same device. Record which tests succeed and which fail.

This comparison gives you a more useful support request than simply saying the service is slow. TCL’s troubleshooting guidance distinguishes general connectivity problems, app problems and buffering. It also recommends checking internet access on a second device.

Check the connection at the television

Check that the TV or streaming device is connected to the intended Wi-Fi network. If possible, compare the result nearer the router or over a compatible wired connection. A speed test on a different device in another room is not the same test as playback at the television.

Google’s device guidance recommends checking Wi-Fi, adjusting the router’s position and considering a cable connection. Use the guidance for your device model: menu names and Ethernet support differ.

Make one comparison at a time

Choose one channel and note the time. Test it with other large downloads paused, then try another channel. If your player offers different source qualities, compare an available HD stream with a higher-resolution version. Keep the rest of the setup the same.

A difference between two tests is a clue, not proof of a particular cause. Record the result before changing another setting. Avoid making several router, player and display changes together: even if playback improves, you will not know which change mattered.

Check updates and restart before drastic changes

Check for supported device and player updates. Restart the device and retry the same playback test. Google includes updates and a restart in its troubleshooting sequence. If you need instructions, use your device manufacturer’s support page.

Keep your login details available before changing app data. Clearing stored data or resetting a device can remove setup information. Those actions should not be the first experiment when a smaller, reversible check will tell you more.

Send a support report that can be acted on

Do not post passwords or full private playlist URLs in public comments. Share the result of the test, and use a private support route if account details are needed.

  • Your device model, player name and app version.
  • Whether the issue affects one channel, several channels or every app.
  • The approximate time and time zone.
  • Whether you tested Wi-Fi, a wired connection or another supported device.
  • The changes you tried and what happened after each one.
